The needles are ultra lightweight and ultra smooth and made from a 100% USA made, recycled natural material. The needles are harder and slicker than the maple hardwood, the smoothest version of our wood needles. Your hands will experience the same easy grip and warmth of wood for comfort and stress free knitting. Growing up as a competitive figure skater I loved the freedom of freestyle from the technical school figure regimen. Just like a skater excited to be stepping out onto clean ice, your cast on is an exciting clean slate of creativity. Our new freestyle needles will skate through your yarn with precision and flair. Discover your freestyle! Enjoy! We are offering the freestyle needles as interchangeables only. They are available in 7 sizes, US3 3.25mm through US9 5.5mm, as individual components or interchangeable sets of all 7 sizes. The freestyle interchangeables are compatible with our current wood interchangeable component system. The set includes US sizes 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9. Three cords that create a 24”, 32”, and 40” circular and two connectors. The standard length of our needle tip is 4 1/2 inches from tip to beginning of the cord. You can also order a long or a short tip. the long tip is a half inch longer than the standard. The short tip is a half inch shorter than the standard. It will allow you to make a 16 inch needle. ]]> Product Information

Wood Options & Characteristics

We handcraft our hexagonal knitting needles using three sustainable North American hardwoods; walnut, cherry and maple. The maple is the lightest in color, the strongest, and when we hand sand the needles, because of the dense wood grain, it polishes up to be the slickest of the three woods. The maple will never be as slick as a metal needle and the hexagonal shape keeps the stitches where you want them to be. The cherry wood is a medium honey color and is the middle range of slickness, and the walnut is the darkest color, chocolate like, and has the most grab. All three woods are smooth and the differences are fairly minor. The size 2 is our smallest size and we can only make the size 2’s in the maple wood. Sizes 3, 4 and 5 we make in maple and cherry, and the size 6 and larger we can add in the walnut. We use 100% natural Michigan beeswax to condition the wood during the sanding process. There are no laminates or toxic finishes.
